I Have Changed

I have changed my hair so many times that I can't even count. People ask me why do I change my hair so much and my answer is very simple: I get bored of looking the same all the time! But truth is that I change my hair color when I need to change something inside of me, it is a way to express a feeling, my mood for that moment of my life. The visual change helps me and I don't even know why, perhaps it is because I can literally face the fact that something is different.
Dying my hair is what I do in a search for a part of me I haven't found yet. It is my own way of poisoning myself when I feel in lack of any substance, when I need more gas to get me moving on. It is me overcoming myself constantly.

Ashton's Craft

When I first moved to Chicago I was part of an exchange program called Au Pair. For 2 years I lived with a family that had everything opposite of me: I am white and Jewish, they are black and Christian. It was a really interesting experience.
While living with them I looked after their 3 lovely kids. Out of the children my favorite was the little one, Ashton. When Ashton started going to school my days became somehow boring cause I didn't have him around often anymore. One day Ashton came home from school very excited to show me a project he had done there. It was this collage (that you see in the pic up there) of all of our family members holding hands, he had include me there. He gave me the paper and said "Here Julie, so you won't ever forget that you part of our family too!". That was just amazing! How can a 4 years old say such a thing? It was just unexpected! And I save that piece of paper with me wherever I go since then.
Now, guess who am I in the collage? LOL.

Todd's Visit

Todd's poems are very interesting. It was really nice to have him sharing his thoughts with our class, specially because it is, for me, always easier to get the poem's 'real' content when we can get in the poet's mind. Having such a visitor was a thrill!

Writing.

Writing

Writing is more than to know where to put the 'once upon a time' and the 'they lived happily ever after'. It is to translate in words the thoughts and feelings that takes you to another place, another level, a space you wouldn't dare exploring in 'real life': the corners of your mind.

Writing is an intuitive way to express and get to know yourself by molding words to their best look to make your message understood. It is using your imagination on your behalf because you know it can take you as far as the infinite. In the end, it is just about putting on paper a good story, a great lesson...And if you dare, a matter of making other people read it.

Ode to the pizza

Ode to you, dear pizza

Delicious piece of the delight

Dough, cheese and tasty tomato sauce

A combination that couldn't be more bright

I like you very cheesy

With or without toppings

But when peperoni on your top is

I feel like it's better than a kiss

Thin or thick crust

You are America's favorite

In that we trust
